Who is suitable for Breast Implants?
Breast implants are suitable for ladies seeking moderate to large increases in breast volume with enhancement of the aesthetic breast contour in a single cosmetic procedure.
What are Breast Implants made of?
The two main types of breast implants in use contain either medical-grade silicone gel or saline (salt water). The vast majority of implants inserted are of the silicone gel variety as they afford a more natural feel and shape.
How and where are implants inserted?
The chest implants are inserted through small 4+ cm incisions hidden either under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. The implants are placed either below or above the chest muscle depending on patient suitability.
What size implants will be inserted?
Implants can vary in size, height, width, projection and even shape (round or teardrop). The chest implants will be selected according to the patient’s chest proportions and their desired result. The patient will be given an opportunity during consultation to “try” on the various sizes and shapes of implants to help them visualise the end result.
How long do implants last?
I use implants made by Allergan or Mentor. They come with lifetime warrantees against breakage. As long as there are no problems with the implants, they do not have to be replaced, regardless of how many years.
How long is the surgery?
The surgery conducted by a plastic surgeon usually takes about an hour under General Anaesthesia and will not require hospitalisation.
What is the recovery time?
Most of our patients return to work within 2-4 days.
